Introduction
Heymarket supports Group SMS/MMS, enabling you to communicate with multiple contacts simultaneously within a single conversation thread.
This feature allows all participants to read and respond to each other's messages in real-time, streamlining group coordination and discussions. Whether you're coordinating with clients, team members, or any group, you can easily start a group conversation by clicking "Create New" and adding multiple contacts or phone numbers.
To start a new group chat, simply click the "New Message" button from https://app.heymarket.com/chats/ and add the contacts you'd like to include in the group chat.
Using Group Messaging
Starting a New Group Chat
- Click the "New Message" button from https://app.heymarket.com/chats/.
Enter contacts and/or phone numbers to include in the conversation.
- Type the message.
- Click Send Now and the message will be sent to all participants in the chat, in a single conversation.
Viewing Responses to Group Chats
When contacts start responding to group chats, you'll be able to determine which contact sent the message as you'll see their name (or number) right above the inbound message.
Renaming a Group Chat
To rename a chat, click the pencil icon in the top header and enter the new name you'd like to give the group. This is what will display in the list of conversations.
Viewing Group Chat Participants
To view participants, simply open the right pane to view all participants.
You can then click the (i) icon to the right of the contact to view contact details.
Viewing Opt-Out Contacts
Contacts that opt-out will also display in the conversation contact list, under Opted-Out Contacts:

Can contacts be removed or added from group chats?
No. If you'd like to remove contacts or numbers from existing group chats, a new conversation will need to be created.
How many contacts can be added to a group chat?
10 contacts can be included in a group chat.
What happens if one of the contacts opts-out?
If a contact opt-out from a group chat, all responses to the conversation will be blocked. If you want to message the non-opt-out contacts, you will need to start a new chat.
Will Heymarket's AI features work with Group Messaging?
Yes.
Can I use a toll-free number for group messaging?
No.
What System Roles allow for group messaging?
Owner, admin, and member roles have the group messaging permission on by default.
How are group messages billed, and how does the number of recipients affect the cost?
Group messages are billed per recipient. Each message sent to a group is counted as one MMS per participant. For example, if you send a single group message to 5 contacts, you will be charged for 5 MMS segments. If your message includes the maximum of 10 recipients, it will be billed as 10 MMS segments.
